This is an evening for those who long to speak in their mother tongue(s). Some of us are a bit rusty, some are learning it as adults, others might never have learned it or speak it fluently.

This evening will allow for words to be spoken in a language you either know or don’t. A room might be left stripped from meaning but filled with rhythm, sounds and saudade.

You may bring any text format, yours or someone else’s: a diary entry, a letter, pages from a book, song lyrics, a recipe, a conversation. It could be what you most miss saying in your mother tongue, or what you can’t express in the tongue you’ve borrowed. The open mic is for all who wish to participate regardless of experience. The mic is yours for max seven minutes. If you already know that you want to read, write us an email with your name and in what language you’ll be reading.
