“Kill yr idols
Sonic death
It's the end of the world
Your confusion is sex”
(Sonic Youth, Kill Yr Idols)
What do we talk about when we talk about indie? How the fuck did we go from teenagers recording tapes in their bedrooms to indie-sleaze aesthetics on high fashion runways? Should we leave Spotify, and if so, what’s the alternative? How did Instagram and social media twist the very idea of independent music?
This free introductory session will dive into all of this while launching DIY or DIE, a new reading & discussion club on indie music and its ambiguous role within (and against) capitalism. We’ll also outline the club’s structure and preview the books we’ll read together. Expect music, videos, and maybe some surprise guests along the way.
•Full program: 500 kr (subscription optional after this free intro session)
•The fee (after taxes) will be donated to pro-Palestine organizations.
