NU #3 is the youngest edition of NU, dedicated to growing pains, commiseration, and the universality of winter blues. Been Thinking a Lot Lately by Rebecca Holst Fredslund is a collection of excerpts from the diary they kept as a 13-year old. It’s about boys, school, and the poorly concealed secrets we keep from ourselves at that age.
The launch starts at 4pm with zines and complimentary refhreshments. Readings begin at 6pm. ISH.
To accompany the launch of NU#3 and its conjoined twin Been Thinking A Lot Lately by Rebecca Holst Fredslund, we invite your teenage self to the stage: Exchange the scented gel pen for a microphone and tell us about your crushes, your unfinished homework, your newly acquired converse, your many, many feelings.
Come share your teenage diary entries with us for a night of catharsis and cringe.
If you don’t have diary entries, we will also accept: notes app notes, Facebook statuses, skyblog entries, Instagram posts, IM’s, memories, current day manifestations of your inner adolescent, anything embarrassing, endearing, unbridled.
…
At least in November, we are not confused about where we stand. November graciously lets us in on the slow and inevitable descent of winter. There is something comforting about the darkness against our windows, alleviating the pressure to make the most of today, since it has already ended. This is the spirit of NU #3.
