The reading group is part of a larger series of events at The___School for Designing Critique exploring design in a new economy ———— an intro session (Jan 28) + two (or three) monthly meetings centering around Matthew Wizinsky’s book Design after Capitalism.
The discussions are ran by Johanne Aarup Hansen (interaction designer and initiator of the self-organized educational project called The___School for Designing Critique) and will explore how design is entangled and implicit in the capitalist economy and what are the alternatives.
You get to:
Understand how the discipline of design is entangled and has developed alongside the capitalist economy
Get an insight into alternative/anti-capitalist design practices
Get an introduction to alternative economic thinking
Discuss what design after capitalism mean
Develop strategies on how to identify patterns of growth within contemporary design
Develop strategies on how we start to do things differently
