Thursday, 15th of February we’re hosting a talk about publishing and self-publishing, photography and design, with three distinguished guests: Stinus (of Disko Bay), Jacob (of Marrow Press) and Felipe (of Revista OLD) and a distinguished moderator, Amanda-Li (of Formal Settings).
The first of a potential ongoing series of talks hosted at the bookstore, not a how-to, but more of an open talk on various subjects of interest with a solid but soft core: libertas philosophandi and a genuine curiosity about others, their practices, their ways of doing, and what we can do together.
it’s a serious series, in the only way seriousness can be approached: lightly.
“Learning how to think really means learning how to exercise some control over how and what you think. It means being conscious and aware enough to choose what you pay attention to and to choose how you construct meaning from experience. Because if you cannot exercise this kind of choice in adult life, you will be totally hosed. Think of the old cliché about “the mind being an excellent servant but a terrible master.” D.F.W.
